Archiving & Mastering
We do track mastering in-house here at the Hi5. We use a very simple tried and true signal chain with very little bells and whistles to respect your mixes and produce the final product that you are looking for. We charge just $35 per track and can work with you in person in the studio or via remote download. We presently master digital files only, but are perfecting a system for mastering straight from your mix to 1/4" tape. (The machine should be running in Summer 2015)
We are involved in a few ongoing tape archival projects, and are available for smaller archiving or transfer projects on a case-by-case basis. What is archiving? Here's an example: We have been working for the past 4 years with Historians and Librarians at the Claire T Carnay Library at the University of Massechussetts to preserve their library of audio tape recordings of Eisteddfod concerts from 1972-1993 put on by notable folk concert producer Howard Glasser.
